Marion was land locked for over a decade before moving from Wagga Wagga to Wollongong in mid 2019. Having grown up on the surf coast in Victoria, the beach is her natural habitat. Practicing Law beside the sea is exactly where she wants to be.
Marion loves the variety of work that walks in the door at our regional offices. Problem solving is at the heart of what we do and whilst many of the problems that need a legal solution are similar, they are never the same. Every day is interesting and challenging for a solicitor. Marion has extensive experience in Family Law including parenting, property, divorce, same sex couples and de-facto relationships. In her mixed practice, Marion loves the wordsmithing involved with Wills and the fine attention to detail required in property and commercial matters. A special interest of Marion’s is working with our elders and betters and she is prepared to be a forceful advocate for those at risk of or already dealing with elder abuse.
Marion’s enthusiasm for working in a mixed practice stems from the breadth of her interests and life experience. Before coming to Law, Marion worked as a filmmaker, professional researcher, academic in the Arts and Humanities and most recently as the Executive Officer of a regional, not-for-profit, community organisation. Marion was admitted in the Supreme Court of NSW in 2015.
Marion has two teenage sons who she now looks up to even though she herself is about six foot tall. Week nights and weekends include being a taxi mum but this is no burden given her love of AFL. Marion regularly volunteers at the Illawarra Legal Centre at their Thursday evening free advice clinic. Marion collects Art Nouveau tiles because their beauty makes her happy. Apart from the beach, her next favourite venue is a jazz club savouring the latest in contemporary Australian music.
